Remove hidden paragraph styles toolbar?

On the standard toolbar, the paragraph styles is hidden behind an arrow on far right - this means every time I want to access colour or fill, I have to click on the paragraph styles arrow and close it, to reveal the other icons hidden by it.

I have tried to customise and remove the paragraph styles toolbar from the standard toolbar, but despite removing all the elements, the toolbar remains where it is, hidden by the arrow which hides half the icons on the toolbar.

I just want to remove/disable so that all my icons are, and remain visible NOT hidden.

Can anyone suggest how to remove the hidden paragraph styles toolbar located on the standard toolbar. Many thanks

Please edit your question (don’t add a comment at this stage; nobody answered yet - to do that, click on then on the “pencil” tool) to add a screenshot. Mention OS name, LO version and save format.

Here, using the Standard Toolbar, the paragraph style menu is in leftmost position.

Your question suggests that you format your documents “directly” (applying italics, bold, clour, highlight, … with buttons or keyboard shortcuts). This is called direct formatting and will lead you into trouble sooner or later. The smarter approach in Writer is to use exclusively styles (paragraph, character, page, …) without direct formatting. This gives you more power and versatility and, which is more important, reliability and stability.

Thanks for your input, Please edit your answer - I’m not sure I understand your ‘prompts’ or your advice.

I asked about removing the hidden toolbar that is hiding the other standard toolbar icons. FYI, I have used direct formatting for over 20 years - trouble free, why don’t you try it? Before you run into trouble?

Whether I use direct formatting or not, I’d still like to use the hidden icons and don’t want to unhide them every time I use Writer… That was the question… Do you have any suggestions on that? Cheers

Can that help?

Toolbars in general

Since I can’t see your screen and my telepathic skills are quite low, I reiterate my request you post a screenshot so that I can have a matter-of-fact idea of the problem. Your concise description is contradictory with what I experience here.

Regarding direct formatting, how do you manage update/maintenance of long-term documents without styling?
