Remove "ofcourse" from the dictionary (Writer) (Spell Checker)

There is no word “ofcourse” but it is not flagged as incorrect. What do I do to make the checker flag it and offer “of course”? Thank you.

There are a few possibilities

  • If you don’t have a spellchecker for the language “ofcourse” is typed in, it won’t be flagged. English (US) is different to English (UK) so click in the word “ofcourse” and see what language is shown in the Status bar at the bottom of the window.
  • If “ofcourse” has language attribute [None] then it won’t be spell checked
  • You might have inadvertently added ofcourse to the spelling dictionary.
    1. Click Tools > Spelling (F7) to open the Spell check dialogue and say No to the Continue checking box
    2. Click the Options button to view the dictionaries
    3. Under User-defined Dictionaries, scroll down to and select standard [All].
    4. Click the Edit button. In the new dialogue find and select the word ofcourse then click the Delete button. Close, OK, Close

I solved this issue by downloading and installing the latest English dictionary. I tested it by writing “ofcourse” in a Writer document. “Ofcourse” is flagged by the spell checker.

The proper phrase is, of course, “of course!”
