Replacing image on a file that used to be a Word file

I previously made a file with microsoft word with all my desired text, an image, and sizing. I’ve opened this file in LibreOffice and I can’t replace the image. The option when I right click doesn’t exist.

Comparing the right click menu options to a normal file, these are the options missing:

Paste, Position and Size…, Line…, Area…, and Text Attributes…

I’d like to use this file because when I try to create a new template from scratch, it doesn’t fit on the page like I was able to make it fit when I still used word.

Help figuring out why I can’t replace the image with the right click menu options would be much appreciated!

It is probably a drawing object. Open the Sidebar and select Navigator. Hover over each drawing object in Navigator to see if that is the one, the image will invert to show which object is currently under the cursor.
Double click it to select it, you should see handles appear around the image. You can then delete it and Insert > Image to insert a different image.

Because you are working in Writer, it would be best to to create a new template from scratch without any contamination from Word. Copy and paste any text as Unformatted text then apply appropriate styles. Insert images from file otherwise they will be pasted as png, increasing file size.

Omg thanks for your reply! It’s indeed a drawing object omg I don’t know how that happened lol. I used to use word to print photos from my vintage digi cam and I could get the photos to be as big as possible with a tiny border and room for text at the bottom but I haven’t been able to figure that out here in OfficeLibre That’s why I’ve been trying to get my original template I made to work.

Do you know if it’s possible to size an image like that in LibreOffice? It barely gets to the edge (even with altered margins) and when I try to keep sizing it up, it just stretches all weird.

Right click the image and select position and size. Make sure keep ratio is ticked, or the padlock is closed.

To use the mouse, if dragging the corner distorts the image then hold down Shift while dragging, or try Ctrl of that doesn’t work.
