Report editor goes all black if try to define accumulation in header

LO Version 24.8.2.1. Windows 11. I have a report that has an existing accumulation field in the header and it works as expected. I am trying to add another accumulation field to the header. I add it as a visible text field. When I go to the properties Data tab and set the Data Field Type to Function my ODB window goes mostly black and the additional fields under Formula work strangely. I am going to paste “normal” and all-black images here. I see your FAQ on images but it seems appropriate in this case.

What the heck?

In the Base Guide 7.3 on page 63 there is a note:

  • “Making a selection in the Content type drop-down sometimes causes much of the
Report Builder window to turn black. If this error occurs, a simple workaround is to
resize the window using the control in the window’s title bar, and to then revert the
window to its previous size. This action should cause Base to re-display the window
    in its normal color scheme”.

Ha! I had no idea this was a documented feature.

Re-sizing solves the black problem. (The easiest thing is to keep toggling between full screen and not full screen.) The fields on the Data tab end up with odd values but it does seem to work. I end up with a field type of User defined Function and a Function of [AccumulationLunch_CountSpecifiedRoute] – really, just as I have typed it here – but as I say, it then does seem to work.

Thanks.
