This means all your frames have been manually adjusted. Therefore they all have now direct formatting. At the very least, you must select all of them to apply a clean frame style. Unfortunately, you can’t select several frames simultaneously. The “edit” must be done on each frame individually.
Start by creating a frame style, experimenting with the first frame. Presently, all your frames are styled Frame (which is the default for text frame) modified by direct formatting (different on every frame). If you have no other kind of text frames, e.g. some in the left margin or centered in the middle of their paragraph, modify Frame style. Other, design a custom style derived from Frame so that it inherits To paragraph anchor mode.
Once your parameters are set (essentially Position with horizontal Right relative to Paragraph text area to align with right edge of paragragh or Page text area to align with right margin and vertical Top or Center relative to Paragraph text area), follow the procedure below to see the effect. This procedure is necessary because frame styles don’t behave completely like the other styles and clear formatting command is ineffective on them.
- select the frame if not already selected
- apply another style, e.g. Graphics (this is the step which clears direct formatting)
- apply your desired style, e.g. Frame or the one you created
When you’re satisfied with the look, proceed with all frames. This is a necessary burden to cleanly style all your frames. After that, modifying the Frame (or custom style) is all you need to do to change the position of all the frames simultaneously (sometimes with Tools
>Update
>Update All
because frame styles are frequently reluctant to follow the changes and need to be whipped).
And, above all, don’t (and this means under no circumstance ever) move a frame with the mouse or alter any of its properties (size, …) manually or you’ll add direct formatting and “detach” the frame from the style.
