Right page, left page

I made a Left Page style and a Right Page style. It was working great until I stupidly added a manual page break to add a Right Page after a Right Page style.

Now as I’m editing my very long document, I notice some Right-Right pages are together when they should be Right then Left pages. So on the 2nd Right Page style, I double click the Left Page style in the side bar. That changes the page correctly. However, when I go further down the document, there now two left pages together.

Is there a way to fix this quickly so that right pages will be followed by left pages. Do I have to start over somehow?

LibreOffice 7.2.2.2 (x64); Windows 10

Edit:
In the organizer tab for Right Page, the Next style is set at Left Page.

I am afraid that there is no easy fix. Though you don’t tell it, I suspect that your left and right page styling is manual. You can change a page style only after a “special” page break if you don’t request automatic style alternation through the Next Style parameter in Organizer tab of a page style.

Next Style is the only method to have always correct alternation.

You can fix your page styles but you must remove all manually-added page breaks in order to guarantee consistent alternation.

You can also take the opportunity to review your paragraph styles so that some of them force a page break to a specific page style, e.g. Heading 1 could force a break to Right Page if your chapters should always begin on a right page.

Thanks for your reply.

I searched the forum and cannot find how to remove all manually-added page breaks. Can you give directions, please?

In the Paragraph Style: Heading 1 dialog box, when I click the down arrow after “Next style” - I do not see Right Page in the list.

Page 86 of the Getting Started Guide says the following but does not give directions for how to specify a Right Page:

Can you please give directions?

Next Style works consistently within the same style category: paragraph after paragraph, or page after page. Here you want to tell that when paragraph style Heading 1 is encountered, it should cause a switch to page style Right Page. This a cross-category causality. You express it in the Text Flow tab of the paragraph style where you can request a page break to a specific page style.

Regarding manual page breaks, you have no other choice than manually removing them. You can however “visually” locate them with enabling View>Formatting Marks. All page breaks, manual or styled, are denoted by dotted blue lines between pages.
