I have a calc column width quandry where the same number, 1010123, in different files require diff column widths.
In both files the number format is code ‘0’, no decimals, no commas, just an intiger display.
In both files either Arial 10 or sans 10 font chosen.
No bold, no italics, no box just plain text.
The file needing the wider column width is a stripped down version of the other I’ve been using to explore speeding up the other.
I’ve looked at everything I can think of, going through all the pages of the ‘Format Cells’ popup called by Crtl+1 and see no difference.
I’m stumped so suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Mike
I should havw mentioned that in one calc doc the column width is 0.57" in the other it requires 0.64" dto display the same number,
Mike

Arial 10 is a specific font and size; Sans is a generic term and could have any metrics. Better to compare using the same specific font in both files.

Thanks I was wondering what/where from sans was.
I have checked several columns using both fonts in both files, still wondering why different calc docs need different column widths to display the same number.
Mike

Both files has the same zoom level?
Have you tested with copy and paste?

Start with the question, if Arial is available, because by default I would not expect this on Linux. So the system will provide a replacement, wich is usually similiar, but not the same font.

Bingo!
Thanks Leroy I hadn’t thought to look at that and the file needing wider columns was at 90%.
Much obliged, good thinking.

Be well,
Mike
