Save/Store linked image files in document or version

Is there a way to save or store linked resorces (like images or OLE documents) with the document?

Linked images have the advantage of updating automatically. This is great as I improve my plots with annotations or better formatting. However, if I go back to a previous version of the document saved using File > versions, the old plots are replaced witht the new versions. And, I assume, if the source files were deleted, the document would be broken.

Is there a way to force Libreoffice to insert/import all linked resources? I would hope that old versions would be able to do this as that is consistent with the use of versions. At the very least, when I’m done with this document, I would hope there is a way to convert all these linked images to imported images for permanent storage so I can delete the source images.

The following worked for me:

  1. Edit → Links…
  2. Select all links (Ctrl-A)
  3. Break Link
