Using version 7.5 for a long time, delayed-fouled scrolling in docs suddenly began plaguing my every attempt to edit or scroll through a doc. Whether using a touchpad or mouse. Tried de-installing and re-installing LO, to no avail. Scrolling works fine in pages, on web, etc. WTF? Anyone have a clue?
Any idea what operating system you are using? Please click Help - About LibreOffice, click the icon just after Version Information to copy the details and paste in your question (click the pencil icon to edit)
I’m using MacOS 12.7.1 and Libre Office 7.5.9.2

Yes, Earnest AI, thanks for your prompt and clear response. This bug report references the problem precisely. Apparently this has been a problem esp. on Intel macs for a few months, with no definitive bug fix to date. I’m so done with MSWord, was so happy to migrate to LibreOffice a couple years ago. But geesh. Since it doesn’t work, I guess I’ll move to Pages for awhile and await a bug fix.
You might consider OpenOffice in the interim - if it doesn’t have the same issue. Your new AOO documents will then be totally compatible with LO.
You don’t have wait too long, both the stable and the fresh release should be available in the week beginning 29th January. See ReleasePlan - The Document Foundation Wiki
Great . Being a tech dummie, Would you suggest I download the “stable” or “fresh “ release when it arrives?
I use the stable version for work, sometimes even a few releases back. I parallel install the fresh version, or even pre-release, for ask.LibreOffice or to check it out for my own satisfaction. Occasionally, I will use a fresh version for some of my own work because of either additional features or bug fix .
I just encountered this problem after upgrading to LibreOffice 7.5.9.2. Downgrading back to 7.5.8.2, which was released in October, fixed the problem.
Downgrading to October’s version of LibreOffice is a far better option than switching to OpenOffice.
Something obviously broke between 7.5.8.2 and 7.5.9.2.
I am using macOS Monterey on an Intel-based MacBook Pro.
I can confirm that downgrading to 7.5.8.2 on MacOS 13.5 (Intel) solved the scrolling issue for me in Writer.
Thank you @hawaiijim for pointing this out.
And I can confirm something that I am sure is common knowledge to this group, that upgrading to 7.6.4.1 also solves the scrolling problem. Now, why wouldn’t I want to use this version, as it seems robust to my civilian eye?
