Trying to resolve laptop scrolling problem with Version: 6.4.4.2 what Java is best suited?
Besides the fact this question doesn’t seem to be related to LibreOffice at all - you may use any java version, since java doesn’t affect scrolling
I picked this from a previous question about LO requirements which needed it.
However I queeried ’ java -version ’ and got’ Command ‘java’ not found ’ and was then offered several versions up to 14.
I have had the scrolling mal function for several years and would like to solve it.
the scrolling mal function
If you have a problem with scrolling in LibreOffice, describe that and ask as question about that. But java definitely got nothing to do with this (esp. since you even can’t face a scrolling problem in a java-based extension, if you got no java installed and hence such extension wouldn’t run at all).
BTW display

Thanks for your diagnostic help.
In conclusion, the problem is not Java related,
minimum install is not related,
hardware works with email, browsing but not ’ LO '.
I would be interested in making some progress.

…in what? This is still an undescribed issue. You just claim to have a scrolling problem but don’t describe it. You won’t make progress this way.
I normally use the touchpad for scrolling down pages of text. The function works as expected on Thunderbird email and popular browsers. In Libre office Writer and Calc the text jitters but does not scroll. I’ve had the malfunction over several updates of LO over the last couple of years.
Any progress would be very welcome.

That is not an answer. But the question appear as having 1 Answer. In your case, I would erase it.
It all adds the the confusion, I have tried to describe the problem and given the background information. Are you suggesting I delete all the above and start a new thread?
Sorry to confuse you. My suggestions is to delete the answer, not the question. Besides, what you added in the answer is already as a comment; although you could press edit below your question to add more information.
