Setting OfficeLibre as default for certain users


We are using Citrix XenApp and want to try and reduce the costs associated with Microsoft Office

Here is what we want to achieve

  • Have LibreOffice & Microsoft office suites installed
  • Depending on if you are part of a specific AD group which will dictate the suite that you get. So if you are a member of test\testofficepackage then you will be given office Libre as your default suite to open and edit excel, powerpoint etc but we also want to have the suite set as the default app without causing problems for other users who are on that device/machine

Has anyone else done this, we will be using appsense to do some of the other work in the background

Which OS is used? Under Win-10 e.g. click on a text file on the right. Select “Open With.” Then select “Other App”. Select “LibreOffice”. Check “Always use this app to open odt files”. “odt” stands for all files MS and LibreOffice. Repeat this process for all file types. Can this help you (?), then close your question.

No this does not answer. I know how to set the default however I only want to do it to a certain subset of users based on AD membership.
