Several questions about tabbed interface

Hi All,

I started this journey because I was annoyed about the “merge and center cells” button taking up so much space on the tabbed interface. First off I tried to modify the text in the Options / Advanced / Expert configuration but that didn’t change anything.

So I thought, just remove it from the notebook bar. So Tools / Customize… and select Notebookbar, uncheck the button and click OK. The change didn’t stick. It was checked again when I went back into the notebookbar page.

So, how do I either change the text of the button, or remove it from the notebookbar? I use it so rarely that the latter option is probably preferable for me.

If you uncheck the button then it should remove Merge and Centre Cells icon from the toolbar, even after restart of LibreOffice. If it doesn’t stay removed then either LibreOffice crashes on shutdown, or the OS crashes on shutdown and restores yesterday’s settings.
