I am trying to figure out how, ideally with GPOs/scripts, to make it so that all of my domain users will have their templates populated by all the templates that we save into a shared SMB folder. Have been striking out big time on it.
Current approach is like this:
LibreOffice Template Discovery:

LibreOffice reads template search paths from
registrymodifications.xcu(XML config) -
The
DirectoryListsetting specifies which folders to scan for templates -
We add
file:///E:/Libre%20Templatesto this list -
LibreOffice automatically scans this folder at startup and shows all .ott files

New templates appear automatically - no re-registration needed
Previous Failed Approaches:

ADMX policy - only sets SAVE location, not scan location -
Copying files to \user\template\- files aren’t registered in XML
