I’m using Writer on PopOS. When I open a document, it opens quickly, but it takes a considerable time for Writer to start working properly. It seems like it’s lagging; the mouse won’t move, and the system freezes for a few seconds before working again. It happens every time I open a new document.
I also try to turn off the Java runtime environment, but it keeps turning back on automatically.
Help, because I’m new to Linux, PopOS, and everything.
Is your printer offline? By default Writer queries the printer for installed paper trays to infer default page size. You can cancel this query in Tools>Options, LO Writer>Print unticking Paper tray from printer settings.
My laptop isn’t connecting to any printer. Btw, when I checked, the Paper tray from printer setting option isn’t ticked, but the problem remains. This issue doesn’t occur with any other app but LibreOffice.
Help, pleaseee, I’m really sad. I can’t work it out, but I don’t want to go back to Windows or Microsoft.
Try setting the pdf printer as default printer, if that is possible.
If it still occurs then open LibreOffice in safe mode, click Help - Restart in safe mode - Continue in Safe Mode and test opening documents.
If it is OK then try with a temporary profile, if OK then it might be an issue with with user profile, LibreOffice user profile - The Document Foundation Wiki
