Solved LO not saving docs and opening existing docs as read only

I am using Linux M 21.3 and LO 7.3.7.2. My docs are stored on a separate integral HDD and LO on the main SSD drive. Neither writer nor calc will save docs. Both open existing docs as read only. (and I assume the other functions are the same)

I tried downloading LO 17.3.7 but it looked as if it would not pick up the existing settings so I did not continue. I spent ages setting up LO to my liking.

Copy the files to your home, and everything will be fine.

Have you changed recently your computer configuration? Either intentionally or through an update?

Have you checked directory permissions on your document folder?

Have you initially configured /home to be on your HDD (and the rest of the system, i.e. /, on the SSD)? Or have you simply created a directory, separate from /home/yourself; on the HDD? Was this directory created while you were logged-in as another user? In which case, your current user does not own the directory (and possibly not the same group) and the “other” permissions apply (usually r-x on directory and r-- on files).

How long have noticed this behaviour?

Solved now through rebooting. THanks
