Spacing issue when using Greek letters in formula

Hi

I use LibreOffice Writer 5.3.1.2 on Ubuntu 17.

I’m having trouble with the space around Greek letters in formulas.

Horizontally there is too much space, for instance after a Greek capital delta. (what should look like Δt looks like Δ t)

Vertically there is not enough space. A Greek letter in a fraction is almost glued to the fraction bar. When I increase the space around fraction bars the Greek letter moves, but so do all the non-Greek letters and numbers which were in the correct position.

Any suggestions how I can solve this?

I’d suggest using the Greek characters directly, plus required formatting, so instead of the formula like %DELTA t, I’d have nospace{func Δ t}.

That will indeed work, but it is a lot of extra work :(.
