Spell Check Does Not Work In PORTABLE Version

LibreOffice 7.6.2.1, Windows 10

For the life of me I can’t get Spell Check to work in the PORTABLE version.

No language is detected in the Spell Checker and I am unable to check one … as no language is listed.

In Tools > Options > Language Settings > Languages … Default Languages For Documents is set to Western: Default - English USA

Tools > Language > For Selection … is set to English (USA)

Tools > Language > For Paragraph and For All Text … nothing is checked nor can anything be checked. Clicking Reset To Default Language doesn’t seem to do anything.

I’m stumped … any ideas?

Which portable version?
It is the
PortableApps LO Multilingual Standard
PortableApps LO Multilingual All

or the WinPenpack version?

Thanks for your reply!

The Standard version …

Come on guys … no one has any suggestions?

Open the document in question.
menu:Tools>Options>Language Settings>Languages
Western Language:
[x] Current document only
[OK]
If does not have a blue checkmark, you’ve got to install the spell cheker from the extensions website.

Thanks for the reply!

I’m using the portable version … not the desktop version … and I’m using English (USA).

In the portable version all the languages, dictionary and spell check extensions are bundled with the portable download. Not having the proper extension and language settings are not the problem.

But … I finally figured it out. I can’t explain why (perhaps it’s because ApacheOpenOffice desktop and portable are also installed)… but when creating a document using LibreOffice Portable … spell check refused to work unless the document had been saved for it’s initial time. Afterwards … as creation of the document continued … spell check worked fine without having to save the document first.

Anyhow … spell check in the portable version is working fine now.
