Spellcheck in LibreOffice is not Working…!
-
How to make spellcheck work in LibreOffice.
In LibreOffice In the Menu Bar Go-to — Tolls/Options/Language Settings/Languages
Set Default language of the documents and Language interface and Local Language to the same Preferred Language you wish
Check List
• Default Languages of the Documents
• Language of User Interface
• Language of Locasettings
All the above are to be set to the same preferred Language of your choice in order to work with spell checking work fine.
Finally Check Tools/Automatic Spell Check ON (Shortcut Shift+F7)
I simply Do not know and can not figure it out. There is spell check for the web, gmail and this comment box but none for Libre Office writer, why? Maybe I am just too stupid as per not really a computer type person. It took me a while just to figure with writer out that Tolls means Tools. I did exactly as directed Tools > Options > Language Settings > ( language already set at English Canadian). The check mark is on for Tools > Spellcheck. Could the good people receiving this help? I am using a donated Thinkpad e560 with Ubuntu 22.04.2 with all the updates.
On Ubuntu I found you need to add the hunspell for the language you want to use. For Canadian English it is:
sudo apt install hunspell-en-ca
After I did that, I restarted Libreoffice Writer and spell checking started to work.
