Spotlight color indicators missing in Styles sidebar

I was reviewing the Community Release Notes (search for spotlight in the page) for an older version of LO, when I came across the Writer feature, Spotlight. I clicked the Spotlight checkbox in the Styles sidebar and in the document each paragraph was preceded with a unique color, similar to the image in the Release Notes and manual. However, nothing changed in the Style Sidebar. There is no color rectangle before each style as show in the Release Notes and manual. How do I change this?

Linux LibreOffice Version: 25.2.6.2

I did a comparison between 25.2.4.2 and 25.8.2.2.

  • In 25.2.4.2 all paragraph styles in the styles pane had a coloured box with a number
  • In 25.8.2.2 only those styles in use in the styles pane had a coloured box with a number. I think this is better as we don’t need to consider styles not in use.

Check to see if the entire document is in just one style, e.g. Default Paragraph Style

ReleaseNotes/24.8:

  • Style spotlight only applies to styles that are used in the document. (Jim Raykowski) tdf#158992

I watched the attached screencast in tdf#158992. And I’m seeing the colors in the document when I toggle Spotlight, but never in the Style Sidebar. Some things I tried. I created a new document, turned Spotlight on/off and selected various views of Styles (All, Applied, etc) In the Styles Sidebar. Tthe text/labels are right next to the border of the listbox. They never move to the right to accommodate a colored rectangle.

I tried it with LO 25.8.2-4 and it is working like the screencast, but not in 25.2.6.2. I also see in 25.8.2-4, they moved Show previews, Spotlight and the style Filters to the top. Nice.

Thank you. This looks like a very useful feature.

It works for me on Windows 7 and 11 (x64) with LibreOffice 25.2.6.2.
