My Calc spreadsheets (ODS) are opening in writer and are blank. If I open Calc first and try to open files it wants to convert them like they are text files. Since it is impacting multiple files I believe there is something going on in either windows 10 or in Libre Office. any ideas? Running Libre Office 7.06 and Windows 10 lates
Please describe how those ODS files were created initially; were they ever opened normally in Calc before (on this system); what has happened between the expected behavior and this problem (OS update? LibreOffice update?).
4 separate files were created in LibreOffice and have been in use daily for over 2 years. They now show 0 bytes of data. this all occurred overnight. The odd thing is that they have an ODC extension but when opened they come up as a Libre Writer file When I check properties of the documents they say they are spreadsheets and also they have no history. Older Calc files that I haven’t used in months open with no issues. The only “event” that I can think of is I installed Norton Utilities 4 days ago. thanks for any insight.

Oh - that would mean they are destroyed completely somehow. I don’t know what could cause that (something has “optimized” your disk space?). Possibly you could try to recover something using a low-level restoration utility, but I can’t help with this.
The only possible advice is: restore affected files from your last known good (external) backup.
I came to same conclusion that the files were corrupted during some “event” activity. I have autoback up capability but it just saved the new unusable versions of the files. Tried EaseUP but no luck. I have an external backup
from a couple of months ago that will allow me to rebuild files. I would like to understand what happened but may just have to live with “that was weird”. thanks for inputs.
