Ubuntu 20.04, LibreOffice 7.1.1
Occasionally when I start LibreOffice, it thinks it’s the first time I’m running it. It has been doing this since 7.0.
My launch command: libreoffice7.1 --writer
Minor nuisance. Any ideas?

It isn’t minor. That’s your user profile that LibreOffice can’t find and rebuilds. It also answers question as to why you can’t find the emoji button you added.
Please test with a clean profile, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode

95% of the time, libreoffice starts up properly. However, on occasion, it will start up as if it is for the first time.
I did try Restart In Safe Mode. I will see if that makes any difference for future starts.
EMOJI icon is still not showing on the menu bar. I go into Customize, Toolbars, and right arrow the Emoji Icon over to the Right Hand Side Column. It will not appear on the Menu Bar. Any other icon I move into the Right Hand Side column instantly displays on the Menu Bar.
I even tried moving multiple Emoji icons into the Right Hand Column. No show for any of them.
