If I want to replace a word or phrase with eg parentheses och quotation marks, I usually highlight the text and than press the key for the opening parenthesis or quotation sign.
To my surprise, instead of replacing the marked text, writer positions the choosen option around the text to replace.
Very wrong and very annoying.
I assume it is thought to make the use of writer easier, but that is not the case, at least not for me, quite the opposite.
Is it possible to switch that off and make writer to behave as expected again?

- A formatting aid was added to enclose selected text with parentheses, square brackets, curly braces or quotation marks when pressing the respective opening character. Configured using
