Struggling to add page numbers to multiple title pages

I have 9 title pages for my thesis, after which the page numbering needs to start at 1. I have managed to get that right, but now I’m just battling to insert the roman numerals to the title pages. Can anyone tell me how to do this? (I’m not particularly computer savvy, so am really looking for the simplest and clearest explanation possible!).

If I click on Format>Title Pages then a section at the bottom of the box that pops up says “Edit Page properties”. I have clicked on this and selected the Roman Numerals in “Format”, but nothing changes when I click “apply”. I must be doing something wrong, but what?

(Btw, I am using Libreoffice version 4.1.4.2).

How do you have inserted the page numbers in the document?

@HeyJanice - Do you have also the field “page number” in your footer? Insert > Fields > Page number.

The procedure you described works fine for me. LibO 4.1.5 on XP
