suddenly menus etc slow to render

In the last few days, Writer & Calc take a good 20 seconds for the upper tool bar to load - each item is drawn one by one, then the page content suddenly pops up. Also, after initially drawing correctly, icons to the right are incomplete.

I have uninstalled then reinstalled it.

I have reset user profile
Still same problems. Was fine until recently with no hardware changes.

Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela 64bit, 16mb RAM on a Samsung Pro SSD

Any ideas please.

Hi. Have you tried running fsck? If your filesystem has some corruption or inconsistencies, it can lead to behavior like this.
