Are there any plans to fully support this format?

Just tried this again with 4.1. Writer now opens the files but then, without warning, removes then password protection - this is much worse than not supporting it at all!

@Olmy – you’ll need some karma so you can post comments on Answers…
qubit hits you with his sceptre of +10 karma
there…that should do it
hey I’ve forgotten the password to a password protected document on my laptop it there a way to still open it and edit it without entering in the password key?
Yes, of course!
Hi @Olmy,
I don’t have any password-protected DOCX files, so I can’t test this functionality for you, but I agree with @rrbd and believe that LO is aiming to support this functionality.
First thing I suggest you do is grab the latest release and test your files with it. We’ve made a lot of improvements and fixed a lot of bugs in LO 4.0, so it might just work!
If your files still aren’t opening, please file a bug about this problem. Make sure to describe exactly what isn’t working with the DOCX format, and if possible, provide a couple of examples of files (please remove any personal information before uploading them). The QA team will be happy to help you track down this issue!
Please post a link to any bugs you file in a comment below using the format “fdo#123456”.
Thanks!
