Is Windows 7 needed or is Windows Vista just not tested? I would be willing to see if it would run or not, just wanted to see if what the case is. And it would be nice to know if I need the fire extinguisher in hand as I try installing and running it, lol. I also am aware of the fact that this will be the last version that supports Windows 7 & 8.
I didn’t test anything of this, but if you wish to explore a bit:
Release notes 25.2 tell the main problem is lack of support on the python-side, but links to “unofficial” ways to install python3.9 on Win7.
The following site shows installing python 3.9 and the missing parts for vista and win7, so Visa may be a possibility…
But I’d rather install linux instead of Vista… Should be much easier…
Thanks @fpy & @Wanderer I guess it will not work then, and while the python solution might work I don’t want to try it. The computer I would install it on does not like a lot of things, including and not limited to: Internet, Windows Updates, Some Software, & many other things. The only reason I asked was in case someone else had tried it or if their was a possibility that it might work. I will just have to continue using the old software, which it is nice, but the newer version is much nicer.
The latest version that different OS can use is listed here, Documentation/System Requirements - The Document Foundation Wiki
@EarnestAl Thanks but I already have the newest version for Vista. @fpy it is an option, but I don’t want to try it right now. I have a Windows 10 that I use for most things (such as Internet) and is what I will continue to use for the current version of Libre. And don’t tell me to get Windows 11 as this Windows 10 computer is not eligible for the upgrade, also I like the Windows 10 format.
try from a usb stick or ssd.
