Hello,
yesterday I installed border liner extension. Now, LibreOffice 3.5.5 crashes systematically at the splash screen, when saying “enabling border liner”. I reinstalled LO, no help. I repaired it, no help. Now I am uninstalling it and will try a clean install. Have can an extension cause such a catastrophic result? Did anybody test it before releasing it? I cannot disable it because LO does not start, it crashes before!
The computer on which I had the bad idea to try Border Liner is under WinXP Pro.
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I could not wait, I needed to go on with the job I was doing. The clean install did not work. I re-uninstalled everything by Revo Uninstaller in the aggressive mode, removed all registry entries, all the folders, everything. Then a new clean installed worked. Of course, I had re-customize everything, but at least I could re-start working.
I’ll keep in mind your suggestion in case a similar problem occurs again (hopefully no!)
For an easier troubleshooting: create a backup of your user profile before installing an (unknown) extension.
I have tested BorderLiner 2.1.2 with LibreOffice 3.5.5,
on WinXP 32b, JRE 1.6.0_33.
Adding and removing the extension via Extension Manager
(Only for me
) works fine for me;
LibreOffice didn’t crash with the installed extension.
A suggestion: How to solve your problem
If you have added the extension “Only for me
”, you can remove it manually as follows:
- Close LibreOffice (+ Quickstarter, if enabled)
- Go to your LibreOffice user profile
- You may create a backup of this user profile
- Select the folder
cache
(path:...\LibreOffice\3\user\uno_packages\cache
) - Delete the folder
cache
— and start LibreOffice - You have to reinstall all your user extensions…
