When I try to add an Index of tables or figures after the Table of Contents which is already generated, the program crashes. I’ve tried multiple times with the same result. I’m using Version 24.8.2.1 OS Linux 6.8.

And if you hope to receive any useful help, edit your question to mention OS name, LO version and save format. Attach a sample file for better diagnostic. Just stating “I have a problem” is not sufficient to spot the issue.

There are many ways to install LO on Linux: Distro packages, container packages, download from libreoffice.org, self compiled.
Call menu:Help>About… and click the push button in the middle of the dialog. This copies the dialog info to clipboard. Share it with us.
