Tried everything in “Format” but could not get page to regular size, always must use bottom scroll bar to read paragraphs and sentences etc.
There is an obvious question about the actual font-size being used, but the first question, I guess, is about the zoom level that you are deploying:-

menu):View→Zoom→Zoom...
That gives, as just one example, options to Fit Width, which will fix your horizontal scroll problems in one fell swoop. Once you are used to the various options you will also find that there are zoom controls at bottom right on the Status Bar.
