Text cross reference and caption numbers don't match!

I have a problem that I copy/past a figure, inserted its caption, and when I insert the cross-reference, the number in the latter is not the same as the former! The figure number is correct, but the number in the cross-reference is wrong. And, when I click on the cross-reference, it takes me to the right figure.

For example, the caption Figure 1 appears as 2 in the cross-reference, but if a click in the ‘2’, it takes me to the right Figure 1. The cross-references with other objects (Tables) are the same…

You probably made a mistake when creating the cross-reference (perhaps using the wrong field like page or chapter number). Attach a sample file to your original question (don’t add a comment at this stage).
As always, mention OS name and LO version.
