The connection to the data source "name of file" could not be established

I’ve transferred my base file from my windows 10 pc onto my m1 Mac and I get the above error when trying to open a table or query.

Do I need to install HSQLDB?

Any ideas on how to fix this error?

Is it a split database that relies on a driver/connector to connect to the back end tables? It seems when I downloaded my connector recently for mariadb back end it asked what OS I was using, so maybe you have a windows connector and need a Mac connector
