The rectangle and square drawing objects have two shadows instead of a single one

I would like to file a bug report, but could not create an account. Sorry.

Description:
The rectangle and square drawing objects (from basic shapes) have two shadows instead of a single one. No other drawing object has this problem. Rectangular/square flowchart items and callouts also do not have this problem. Only the rectangle and the square from basic shapes.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open LO Draw (or other component that has drawing styles, such as Calc)
  2. Select the rectangle tool or square tool (basic shapes) in the drawing toolbar
  3. Create a square or rectangle
  4. Click ‘Edit Style…’ in the context menu (or use the Sidebar)
  5. Check ‘Use Shadow’ in the ‘Shadowing’ tab of the drawing style dialog
  6. Optionally increase distance, change shadow direction and/or add transparency to make things clearer.

Actual Results:
The rectangle and square drawing objects (from basic shapes) have two shadows instead of a single one.
The nearest shadow is the one with the corret distance in relation to the object, as set in the style dialog. The farthest has the same distance, but in relation to the first shadow. Both shadows have a transparency value different from what is set in the style. The nearest shadow is less transparent than it should be and the farthest one is more transparent than it should be. Both always have the correct shadow color without transparency.

Expected Results:
The rectangle and square drawing objects show only one shadow with distance and transparency as set in the style dialog.

Reproducible: Always

Additional Info:

  1. Unfortunately, this defect also appears in the .SVG when the file is exported. On Inkscape, the contents of the .SVG are:
  • the rectangle (one contour and one area)
  • a duplicated nearest shadow (two contours and two areas)
  • the farthest shadow (one contour and one area)
  • a blank (and transparent) rectangle that surrounds everything.
Using Inkscape, the extra shadow can be easily removed by ungrouping the shape and removing both its contour and area.
  1. This problem is not present in Writer, since it does not have drawing styles.

That is bug 43743 – FORMATTING: Double shadows when using a drawing/graphics style on a shape.

Workaround: Go to the properties panel in the sidebar and disable the shadow there. Then only the shadow from the style is active.

Thanks. I looked for a bug report regarding this in the reports for Draw and could not find one.
And this one is from 2011… damn…
