The whole interface got incredibly HUGE

Today I opened the app and the interface I was presented to was just sooo unnecessarily big, I’d love to make it smaller.

It’s not just the icons, it’s also the dialogues and most other things:

I found a dirty trick launching the application with SAL_FORCEDPI=100 libreoffice --writer
but it’s more of an emergency monkey-patching, as all the spacing is still very wrong and some dialogues don’t even work.

Any ideas?

You tagged base but your screenshot does not look like a database front-end component window. It is more like a Writer window. Do you in fact mean the problem is common to all components (Base, Calc, Draw, Impress, Math, Writer)?

TIL about base, I always somehow assumed it meant “the base application in common with all the components”. You really never stop learning!

Well, do I have to open another ticket, should I change the tag or should I upload a new screenshot with a Base instance?

Just retag.

Thanks everyone for all your very helpful answ- no wait I ended up fixing it on my own.
I’ll reveal the answer after 30 comment saying “this forum sucks”

[spoiler]
nah, I’m kidding, here it is:

on Ubuntu:

  • type the application name
  • right click on the app
  • application tab
  • click on environment variable and paste this: SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3
  • profit

have a nice day and don’t be like the other users of this place

Did you try also kf5, as gtk seems to be unusual, when using KDE?
