There was a problem opening the file /home/tli/.cache/.fr-OU1…_Linux_x86-64_rpm/install

New Linux user here and new to LibreOffice too. I’m trying to install LibreOffice version 25.8.3 onto my Linux Elitebook but I get the above error message followed by:
“The file you opened has some invalid characters. If you continue editing this file you could corrupt this document.
You can also choose another character encoding and try again.”
I’ve tried with the different available “Character Encoding” options and I’ve tried to “Edit anyway” and “Retry” but nothing is working. Any advice?
Many thanks

The file you try to edit is the file, which should be executed to install the packages.
.
But:

  • What Linux distribution do you use? Most distributions will support there own packages of LibreOffice. So you could install LibreOffice through the package manager of your system directly.
  • If you want to use the packages of LibreOffice, not of your Linux-Distribution: Do you need rpm-packages (Fedora, OpenSUSE) or deb-packages (Ubuntu, Debian)?
