time or date not staying fixed in Writer

Hello, When editing documents formatted as doc, docx, or rtf, inserting a date or time stamp in these documents results in the time/date not staying fixed. Once the document is closed and reopened and a new date or time stamp is added, the previous date stamps become variable and show the current date rather than the fixed date when the stamp was added.

Any suggestions for how to fix this? Ideally, would be good for the date stamps to be formatted as plain text rather than as a date field so that they aren’t variable.

But DOCX should preserve constness of the field iiuc? What wersion of LibreOffice do you use?

That seems to be a known problem with documents saved to alien (hostile?) file formats. I cannot help with the issue itself, but you can convert date/time/date-time fields to ordinary text and by that fix the value before saving to the alien format. User code performing that for you is contained in a demo you find here.

Thank you – adding a macro to convert to text format sounds like a good solution.
