i want to eliminate the extra tool bar

Don’t know what you exactly mean by “extra toolbar”, but generally toolbars are managed via >Tools>Customize>>Toolbars.
Next you have to distinguish between toolbars shown in the UI for the current module independent of the currently open document and those stored to the document: Scope.
The toolbar you want to remove or change you find then under Target.
