Trailing line breaks when pasting calc data into other applications

When copying spreadsheet string data from .csv files in LibreOffice Calc to other applications, like Google Chrome, for some reason I always get a line break at the end of the copied string. I always have to hit backspace (⌫) to get rid of it.

When examining the contents of the comma-delineated .csv file, I see no evidence of trailing line breaks at the end of the cell (before the , character).

I have the same problem in OpenOffice. I am using OS X El Capitan, not sure what the behaviour is like on other OSes.

I’m not sure if this is a “feature” or a bug, or something else. Is there a way to get rid of the trailing line breaks via application settings?

Same on Windows 8.1 with LO 5.2.2.2, copying from .ods and pasting into notepad.

This feature allows you to paste the data among other data, or paste it multiple times without adding a new line/paragraph: just click at the beggining of a line and paste, or paste, paste…

If do you select three cells with data, copy and paste it twice in other application, you get:

1
2
3
1
2
3

If no trailing paragraph, would you get:

1
2
31
2
3

By the way, pasting as unformatted text in Writer don’t add trailing paragraph. :frowning:

LibreOffice 6.3.6.2 (x86); OS: Windows 6.1
