Transfer of plot parameters in Calc

Hello,
In OpenOffice Calc 3.xx it was possible to create a plot (graph) in one file, the to copy it to another file with another data table whereas the data were NOT transferred, the plot definition was transferred. This way I can create plots mechanically with different data. Since newer versions of LO the original data table is also transferred, the new ones are not used.

How to do it in LO 5.4.4.2?

After having pasted the chart to the new document, select the data range in the sheet and drag&drop it onto the chart, the chart will be updated with the new data range.

Thanks for the advice. It goes, but I have hundreds rows and columns are not adjacent, so the selecting is problematic.
