Im trying to write a “membership card” by placing both label boxes and text boxes on a form with an embedded image in the background.
In the label box I can adjust the font size, style colour. I can also adjust borders and background INCLUDING setting the background to transparent.
In the text box, I can achieve all the same… EXCEPT for setting the background to transparent.
Any ideas how this can be achieved.
Thanks in advance

It isn’t possible to set the background for a control transparent except controls for labels… The only control, which shows transparency, is the image control.
Seems you are looking for labels instead.
Although textboxes do not have transparency, I have matched the textbox back color to closely match the color of the image where the textbox overlays to make it “appear” transparent. One can also “edit” the image and set its background color to any opaque color, and then match the textbox color with that. This works best for me because transparent labels and textboxes tend to get “lost” in the embedded image in certain conditions.
Im using Linux Mint 22.1 with LO Base 24.2.7.2
Thank you RobertG and skyandrews… but.
- Labels are transparent, but I cant load the data fields without TEXT boxes and 2. matching the background to the image is not possible. Whilst not a “busy” image, its varied enough to make an overlaid text box look obvious.
There MUST be some way to make text boxes transparent

I expect that the labels referred to would be Creating and Printing Labels and Business Cards
That is, mail merge in Writer using the database fields
