How can I add TTS integration into Libreoffice?
Hello @GRB,
Please try out the Read Text Extension
that can be downloaded and installed via the LibreOffice Extension Repository.
HTH, lib
I did try that, but the voices are not at all high quality. I had it working OK with a low quality voice, but I installed it a second time with Mint, and there was too much static. Do you know how to get the Read Text Extension to work with a high quality voice software like Cepstral?
The quality of the voices is not determined by the Read Text Extension, but by the speech synthesis software and available voices that are already installed on your system.
On Mint this could be Espeak, Festival, etc.
If you already have the Cepstral voice installed, then i assume that you can specify to use that voice via the script ( or the command line options for Python ) in the Read Text dialog. However i have never done this myself…
I just don’t have enough technical expertise to figure it out. This morning in a phone conversation with Cepstral support that said they would love to know if I got it to work, and how I did it. Their claim is that other OS’s make it easier for them to implement it.
