UI of Page Layout menu not tabbed/ribboned

When opening the Page layout menu in LO Writer through Right Click → Page layout…, the UI of the Page Layout menu is not, as one would expect, tabbed/ribboned (I don’t know which is the right term here), but rather structured through a list of sub-menus on the left side (see below) similar to the Options dialogue (Tools → Options…).

Compare to that the Paragraph menu—the Page Layout menu was, as far as I remember, until recently structured in the same manner:

Is this an intended change or a mistake? Because I do not really see the benefit of changing this.

System info:

Intended change.

@Hrbrgr Thanks—can you elaborate on the reasoning? Because (at least to me) it seems like a worse UI. Also, why have a different layout than the Paragraph/Character menus etc.?

Additionally, I couldn’t find anything in the Release Notes about this, but I only skimmed through them quickly, so I might have missed it.

Through further use, I discovered that this also affects the Paragraph Style, Character Style, and Frame Style menus.

In my case, the paragraph styles, character styles, frame styles and page styles are all structured according to the new pattern.

You should ask the developers for arguments.
