We are looking for a replacement of visio with libre open in our org, I am able to open the visio files in Libreoffice but unable to open the same files in visio again after saving in libreoffice.Currently i am testing in visio 2007 and libre office 4.2
Please let me know how to open libre office saved files in visio again
This may be a LibreOffice problem of not saving files correctly or can be Microsoft Visio problem not opening the file correctly.
If possible I suggest to report a bug to bug tracker: https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/ and try to upload sample file - I suggest working visio file and then step by steps what you have done in LibreOffice to get a corrupted file.
What will replacement look like? Are you going to migrate all of your software from Visio to LibreOffice? If yes, then I strongly suggest to save/convert files to LibreOffice in ODF format. And then if you no longer need Visio then to lower the number of problems, just uninstall it - when you confirm that files are working well in LibreOffice.
But on the other hand, if you gonna exchange files with people using Visio then you need to sort the problems out and report bugs to bug tracker. You also need to know that there is no perfect world and so you may run into a problems when exchanging the files between two software.
