Have a presentation in a .ppt file. Open in Imress. Cannot change the order of slides in normal view or slide sorter.
Left mouse on slide to be moved, drag to mew location, thumbnail of slide to be moved is displayed with a numeral 1 on a blue background in its centre, release mouse. Result, a copy of the first slide in the presentation is inserted in the indicated location, the dragged slide is deleted.
Things I have tried:
- Use copy and paste to move slide, same result.
- Save file as .odp, close Impress, reopen, load new file, same result.
- Create new file and attempt to drag and drop slides into blank presentation, A copy of first slide is inserted into new presentation, copy in original is not deleted.
- Create new blank file and attempt to copy and paste slides from existing presentation, same result, copies of the first slide in the existing presentation inserted into the new presentation regardless of actual slide selected.
Result is that Impress is unusable.

Edit 1.
OK now I’ve actually delivered my presentation I have a little time to fiddle. I created a new .odp file, four simple slides, and drag and drop works fine in the new file. So perhaps something to do with loading .pptx files which is not fixed by converting to .odp.
Then opened the original .odp file (converted from .pptx) Copy and paste into my new test file gave same behaviour as before, ie, inserted the first slide. Then tried hiding the first two slides in the original presentation and copying and pasting the third, still got the first slide pasted into my test presentation although it did bring across the hidden attribute.
Then tried selecting all 18 slides in the original presentation [Edit/Select all], Copying and pasting into my test presentation. This gave me 18 copies of the first slide.
Finally, getting desperate now, I selected a slide in the original presentation and duplicated it [Right click, Duplicate slide]. First breakthrough, this produced a copy of the correct slide which I could then copy and paste into my test presentation where it could be dragged and dropped to a new position and generally behaved normally. Getting brave now, I selected all 18 slides [Edit/Select all] and duplicated them [Insert/Duplicate slide]. This gave me a set of slides in the original presentation which I could drag and drop and which behaved normally when I copied them to my test presentation.
There is obviously an underlying bug so there may still be hidden traps here but this seems an acceptable workaround. In all the cut and paste operations I got a message about scaling to a different page size. As far as I know the sizes should have been the same and I have no idea of the implications of this, if any.
Finally, being new to this forum I would appreciate some guidance as to the advisability of raising a bug report on this.
