Unable to select text in Writer 7.0.0.3

The mouse will not select text if I’ve switched away from Writer to do some other task and then switch back to Writer.

The Writer Window regains focus but the mouse pointer is just an “I” beam. There is no arrow nor can I select text or point to where I want to enter text.

The menus and title bar work

My only fix seems to be close the document and re-open it

It might be worth seeing how much memory you have available and are using. With a small spreadsheet and a small Writer document open, LibreOffice is using 74.2 MB on my Windows 10 computer. With everything else running on the PC I am using 66% of memory. (Ctrl+Alt+Del on Win and select Task Manager)

Sometimes, after switching programs just waiting a few seconds allows the operating system to release memory and CPU cycles to the current focus.

Having the same problem. Clicking and dragging my mouse over text does nothing. Sometimes when I first open the program it will work for a short time, but then after that it stops working and I can’t select text any more. Very buggy.
