Unable to upgrade, remove or repair Libreoffice 4.2.5.2

Hello I have Libeoffice 4.2.5.2 installed on a Windows 8.1 machine.

I was trying to install 5 but during the installation an error message saying “The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable” comes up and prevents the procedure from continuing.

This exact same error occurs when attempting to uninstall or repair my LO 4.2

[Edit: added LO-4.2 + Windows + install/remove/repair tags]

This gets asked often (Q14905 is just one example) and gets reported as a bug (Bug33939 is just one old one, referenced in Q17634) but ignored, since it is a Windows problem rather than an LO bug.

The problem is that The Windows Installer Cleanup utility (MSICUU2.exe, obtained previously via KB290301 (removed link) and referred to in some Q) has been retired by M$ as they said that it corrupted some Registry instead of fixing them (whoops). Currently, M$ provides a “Microsoft Fix-It” website instead:-

"Automatically repair issues that block program installation or removal because of corrupted registry keys."

If that does not work, and you are desperate, then perhaps try this untested-by-me download from softpedia.com, but do not then blame me if you suffer problems of any kind.

If this helps then please tick the answer (:heavy_check_mark:)
