Unified Diary: Master Diary & Dependents

I keep notes for various projects. Right now I keep them in one giant diary, which is cumbersome.

If there is enough interest, it would be nice to have a way to keep a separate diary for each activity, but the entries in it would also be added to a master diary.

In the dependent diaries, I would start off each post with a date field and an optional time field; then the note. In the master diary, the same, but then the ability to specify one or more dependent diaries.

When I’m looking at my work with the local library, I have a diary for that, I can read through it for review.

But when I’m trying to find some person or event, and I can’t remember which dependent diary it’s in, or when I wish to review a time period to see what was going on then, or what I was doing, then I can look at the master diary.

Hello,

This sounds like a database project with each activity having a record in a main table and events being in an associated table with records linked back to each activity.

If you have little or no background with databases this can be quite a task. It is a complete design and not something easily covered here. Just choosing which database to use is time consuming.

If still interested in this direction there is the LibreOffice documentation → LO Documentation

There is also a section there on how to.

Maybe someone else as I have no interest in this. Don’t see this as part of LO itself but rather something produced using LO.
