Update resulted in not being able to open LibreOffice

I got a notification to update LibreOffice, so I went to do that. Mission accomplished, I thought. But that was too easy, it seems. I went to the icon to open it - nothing. No action. Tried several ways - double clicking, right clicking and asking to open - nothing. Went to Home (file manager) and clicked on a document I had been working on. Would only open in Word Pad! SO: I uninstalled the latest version, and tried to install the slightly older version instead. I got a 404 error code informing me I didn’t have the authorization!

Thanks for ANY help - I need to be able to operate the system SOON … Written Aug. 11/23

You don’t say what operating system you have, I guess Windows because you mention WordPad.
You probably just need to add the new version of soffice.bin to your anti-virus program’s Allowed List.

I have Win11. I did have success after all by deleting the first download and downloading again. Then I was able to open it and use it. I hope it continues to be functional. If not, I’ll post again. Thank you very much for your time and suggestions, and for the link. I will keep both in mind when updating, “just in case.”
