Why do you think you would lose your work.
The files you have saved are independent of the program.
At most, you might have a problem if you don’t back up your files, see:
Preventing data disaster
If you want to install LibreOffice for English, you should can select the language before downloading a new version. See:
Download LibreOffice - Feel free
Get Help / System Requirements
Once you have downloaded the installation files for the program and the helppack you need to install LibreOffice. See:
LibreOffice - Installing under Windows 10 / 11
Get Help / Installation Instructions / Windows
Good luck!
Edit the original question: Tags corrected.
I think that this is not mandatory (please, correct me if I’m wrong), but it helps because it suggest the helppack in the same language. The program file is the same for all languages, and the user interface language and dictionaries can be selected before completing the installation.
Completely correct, the language affects only the text shown on the page, and the complimentary files, but not the main installer. The latter is the same, and that is one of the main distinctions compared to OOo, where there were separate installers for different languages.
My idea is that we need to also merge help packs into one: tdf#124992
