Use ctrl+; shortcut in calc for multiple cells or automatically

I can press ctrl + ; to insert date in a cell. But I want to fill many cells at once, but it fills only one cell even on selecting multuple cells.
How to fill multiple cells?
Also, can I do this automatically based on a condition inside a formula?
Using a VBA or macro is the last resort.

Thanks for helping.

Enter the above key combinations in sequence.

Ctrl+; â–ş Ctrl+D

That’s good to know but I don’t need to fill continuously but at regular or at times irregular intervals.

Excel does it better. Anyway, I figured it out for LibreOffice Calc.
Say you want to enter today’s date in 5 cells. Highlight 5 cells and go
control semicolon enter.
That does one cell.
Then control d
That fills the rest.
I think Calc needs to keep developing features to keep up with Excel.
I have moved largely from Windows to Linux. Calc is pretty good, but Excel is still better, I think.
