Use of autofilter with merged cells

I want to use the AutoFilter to sort columns by name and also want some information in the top rows - see the picture below:

When I use the AutoFilter and try to sort column A I get the message “Ranges containing merged cells can only be sorted without formats.”. Is there any way to have more than one row as a header and still use the AutoFilter? Thanks!

How about to select cell A3, press Ctrl+Shift+End (or select the table to the end of the data in any other way) and sort using sorting, not AutoFilter?

Thank you for your reply! While it works, it is not as handy as the little dropdown from the AutoFilter ;).
